Me and my Pri.....(us)
Things move on and so it is with my trusty steed. I never named her, but she's always served me well. Much maligned by other drivers - mainly due to the people driving them, detested by pedestrians because you don't hear them coming when they decide to cross the road without looking. Loved by taxi drivers because they are super reliable, comfortable and can even be converted to LPG. A car built ahead of its time, 15 years Toyota went the hybrid route when everyone else when Diesel. Look where we are now. In my view the Gen III model was the sweetest. It had good looks, hatchback with lots of space and comfort and gives you the same smooth driving experience that we now expect with Electric cars - complete with regen braking. The drive unit or PSU as its called is a marvel, allowing power to be supplied by the Electric motor, Petrol engine or both at the same time. Self charging means no range anxiety, although the reserve tank only gives you 30K of range! The styling of the Gen IV was not to everyone's taste but Toyota didn't seem to care as they focussed on adding the hybrid technology to the rest of the range. You even had a choice of a luxury versions with the Lexus brand - same tech under the hood but finished with a little more polish. So this is farewell, and good luck with your new owner, whoever is lucky enough to buy you.
