Electric Cars
Well, they are coming, but are we ready for them and can we afford them? Nissan have led the way with the Nissan Leaf with a limited range. Improvements to the battery size now means they are a viable family car for local use and trips within Ireland. Kia have produced longer range cars and this should alleviate any range anxiety at least here in Ireland. Telsa lead the technology and with the Model 3 promised but failed to deliver on affordability. Renault has had some success with its somewhat uninspiring Zoe (now refreshed with an extended range battery in its latest model) and then there's the somewhat quirky BMW i3 (sharing much with the Zoe). So it falls to VW to step in and meet the mass market demand. For a small deposit you can get yourself in the queue with a reasonable lead time (6 months, not years) and the promise of a whole range of Electric vehicles. With a combination of financing and supply agreements for charging, including their own home charging points the question is will they deliver a value proposition that will move us all towards Vehicle Electrification...
